If passed, HJR 67 would cut the annual assessment cap on homesteaded properties under Florida’s Save Our Homes amendment from 3% to 1.5% (or the rate of inflation, whichever is lower).

HJR 67 — Save Our Homes Cap Reduction Amendment

Sponsor: Rep. Jeff Holcomb

Effective Date: January 1, 2027 (if approved by voters in November 2026)

Summary: Amends Article VII, Section 4 of the Florida Constitution to reduce the homestead property assessment increase limit from 3% to 1.5%, or the change in the Consumer Price Index, whichever is less.

Goal: Provide lasting relief to Florida homeowners, strengthen the Save Our Homes protections, and drive responsible local budgeting.
